UK Dicty 2023

Here are all the details for the 2023 UK Dicty meeting to be held in at the University of Sheffield on 18-19th December 2023.

Registration and timings

The final schedule is still to be confirmed, but the meeting will start at 1pm on Monday 18th December 2023, and end around 3pm on Tuesday 19th.

Registration costs £50, which includes all refreshments, lunch on the Tuesday and set-menu dinner in a local Indian restaurant on the Monday evening.

Please register through the University shop here before the 8th of December. Nice people who do not leave it until the last minute to avoid stressing the organisers can expect a particularly warm welcome.  

Abstracts

As usual all talks will be by PhD students and postdocs, selected from abstracts. There will also be an opportunity to present posters.

Please submit an abstract for both talks and posters via this form.

All abstracts must be submitted by the 20th November, and we'll let you know by the 4th December.


Location and travel

The University is ~20 minutes walk from the main station. If you prefer, you can also take the tram which leaves from the stop at the back of the train station, simpy take the blue line towards Malin Bridge.

If you are flying, the most convenient airport is Manchester. From there it's about an hour by train, changing at Manchester Piccadilli.

Accomodation

The cheapest accommodation is at University-owned Jonas Hotel  with rooms from £50/night. This is about 25 mins walk from Firth Court

Next to this is the nicer, but more expensive Halifax Hall, from about £70/night. Rooms available are fairly limited though.

The Rutland is closer to the University, and there are also lots of other options throughout the city centre, including The Leopold.
